Question
i am breastfeeding and have been on the mini pill for 7 months now.recently i started having irregular periods these can be twice  or thrice a month, haven't skipped the pill.this is annoying.my doctor suggested that i take two pills at different times for a week to balance the hormones.will this stop the bleeding?

Answer
Nessa,

I thought that you weren't supposed to take birth control pills if you were breastfeeding because of the hormones. Please ask your doctor about this. Maybe that is the problem you are having. I don't know about taking two pills at different times of the week. I have never heard of this. Why not consider another kind of birth control option instead of something with hormones. Like condoms or Natural family planning if you are married. Please email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and we can talk more. Put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line of your email. Talk soon.
