Birth Control/norethisterone

Question
Good evening.
Recently, Ive been having a lot of appointments with my doctor to sort out my lack-of-periods since coming off the depo injection in 2009. She has prescribed for me norethisterone to kick-start my periods again- ad yet everything I am reading online about this pill is telling me that it will stop my periods completely, is this true? If so, what can I do about it? And is there another alternative?

Regards,

Kate

Answer
Dear Kate,

I just did a search on this and you are right, I don't see that this medication would help your periods. Sounds like a birth control pill in one article. I wouldn't recommend taking this but I am not a doctor. If you don't feel confident in your doctor or her advice, I would recommend a second opinion. Your doctor could be wrong in this case so use your "gut" feeling. I don't know of an alternative but I can do some research. Wouldn't eventually your period start again normally? Please email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and we can talk more.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
