Birth Control/Am I protected?

Question
I was having sex with my boyfriend using a condom, and after we finished, I was on top and when I lifted up off of him, the condom slipped off his penis and stayed in my vagina. So basically when I got off of him, I pretty much just took the condom with me. Most of the semen poured out of the condom and I had to pull the condom out of my vagina (the opening of the condom was outside of my vagina). So my question is, did the condom protect me? I do not think any of the semen went inside me because it just poured right back out of the condom, I'm am just really afraid because it came out of the condom I guess. I have also been on the pill for less then a week. I had previously been on it for a little over 2 years but stopped taking it for one month, and then just had started it again.
Also, when will my birth control start protecting me again?

Answer
Dear Samantha,

Thanks for your question. There is a possibility that you could be pregnant. Even if nothing like that had happened, there is always a chance of pregnancy anytime you have sex. Even if you were on the pill for a long time, there is no 100% safe birth control method. You will have to see if you develop any pregnancy symptoms or miss your next period. When would that be? Your birth control pills would start semi-protection but never 100%. I also don't usually recommend birth control pills or any kind of hormonal birth control method.

Well, let me know what happens. If you want to see about getting a free pregnancy test, you can contact a pregnancy resource center and see when they would recommend the test. http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP. Please email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and let me know what happens. Hope to hear from you soon.
