Question
Yesterday I noticed spotting in my underwear from my birth control. This has not occurred in the nearly 7 months I've been on the medication. It has not happened again today though. When my husband and I later had sex that day, it was quite painful/uncomfortable and almost felt as though he was touching my cervix. I was not sure if this was related to the spotting from the birth control or if they were separate issues. Please advise on both. Thank you.

Answer
Hi CeCe,

I can't really advise you on the second question, you will have to ask your doctor about this. But the spotting could be from the birth control pills. I don't usually advise for the pill or any kind of hormonal birth control methods because of these side effects or risks to your health in the future. So you might want to talk to your doctor about this as well.

Another idea is maybe you are pregnant and this spotting was from that. You could get a free pregnancy test at a local pregnancy center if you like. To find a local center, go to http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP. If you are not in the U.S., you can go to http://www.heartbeatservices.org and click on the globe in the upper right hand corner of the page.

Let me know what happens. You can email me at CHERYL51@aol.com so hope to hear from you soon.
