Birth Control/Periods

Question
Hello, I'm 16 and my period is due on the day that I go on holiday, and I was wondering if it was safe to use  Norethisterone (if my doctor precribes it) in this occasion? My periods are not regular yet and I've not had sex (if that affects anything) Thanks!

Answer
Hi Danielle,
Yes, it's safe to use Norethisterone to delay your period.  It's usually started 3 days before your period is due and continued until your holiday is over.  It doesn't always work perfectly, and sometimes you'll still have some spotting or bleeding, especially if you take it for very long.  But it's safe to use.
