Birth Control/My implanon

Question
Nine days ago I had the contraceptive implant inserted when I was not on my period. I received a leaflet that said use backup birth control for 7 days after insertion. Today is the ninth day and my boyfriend wants to not use a condom for sex today (we have both been tested for stds). Would not using condoms be okay for pregnancy prevention, or is my implanon effective?

Answer
Hi Lindia,

I'm so sorry but I was not able to get your question until today. So I know you had to make a decision rather rapidly. No birth control method, in my opinion, is 100% safe in preventing pregnancy so there is always a slight chance of pregnancy. Also, be on the watch for side effects from implanon so let me know if you have any problems. My private email address is CHERYL51@aol.com so hope to hear from you soon.
