Birth Control/Condom and withdrawal?

Question
Hi Ms. Diane,

I recently lost my virginity to my boyfriend and of course we were safe. We had sex the day my period ended and the days following it. We used a condom perfectly every single time (right size, correct side up etc) and he also pulled out several seconds before he ejaculated. The condom was still on him when he pulled out every time. After everything, I checked the condom(s) and found no rips, tears, or leaks. I even filled some with water. They were brand new condoms too! I am not on birth control yet, but I was just wondering if the methods we are using now are okay for preventing pregnancy. My period is due sometime next week and I am worried sick! Is there any chance?

Answer
Hi Ali,

I hate to tell you this but there is really no such thing as "safe sex". A lot of people believe this but there is actually no birth control method that is 100% safe in preventing pregnancy. So there is always a chance. Even condoms are not safe. So did you get your period? Let me know if you did or not. I would like you to email me at CHERYL51@aol.com so we can talk more.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
