Question
I started my period on January 14th and began my birth control that day. My period ended on January 18th, the following day my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex. The day of the sex I also forgot to take my birth control. Since then I have just continued to take my birth control as instructed and on January 22nd, my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex again. Am I safe, or should I be worried about a pregnancy? (also before beginning this month's birth control I had not taken the birth control for around two weeks)

Answer
Dear Kaia,

Thanks for your question. You can get pregnant any time you have sex, even if you are on birth control pills. No birth control method is 100% safe in preventing pregnancy. Have you ever considered not having sex if you don't want to get pregnant at this time? If you do need to have a pregnancy test, you can get a free one at a local pregnancy resource center.
