Birth Control/BC to regulate hormones

Question
Hi, I've been in recovery from an eating disorder for a few months now.  Even though, I never lost my period during my eating disorder (3 years), I know that it still affected my hormones.  Now that I'm eating more normally, my hormones are going haywire!  My PMS has escalated and I even feel cramps during my period, which I rarely did before.  Could going on birth control pills help regulate my hormones?

Answer
Hi Susie,

Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical doctor so of course, I advise you to see your personal physician about this. I don't know why you would be having your hormones go crazy when you are starting to eat more normally. But I would have to do more research to hopefully find out this information. Birth control pills are composed of hormones so I don't know if this would help or hinder your regularity. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com if you want to talk more or have me check this out.
Thanks.
