I am on birth control and I started my period on a Monday before I was supposed to. It has been 9 days now, and I am STILL on my period? First, I started a week early... and now its lasting longer than its supposed to. What is wrong?
I am using ortho tri cyclen low.... do I need to get a stronger prescription?

Answer
Hi Marcy,

Any kind of bleeding that occurs abnormally, last longer than a normal period would, or is heavier, needs to be checked out by a Dr.  If this is your first time on the pill, it could be a reaction to the pill. But you'll need a Dr. to determine that.It could very possibly be the pill that is causing it, or it may be something else. Cysts and other uterine conditions can cause abnormal bleeding, so to know for sure whats causing it, you'll need to see a Dr.

Thanks, wish I could be of more help!
