Question
My boyfriend and I have sex often.  I take my birth control pill every day at the same time...I have never missed one.  We  always use condoms when we have sex, although sometimes the condom isn't put on until a little bit after we start having sex.  We also have had sex twice with no condom, but he did pull out.  Would you say that I am pretty protected from pregnancy?

Answer
Hi Kim,

Yes you are certainly protected. Less than 1 out of every 100 women on the pill will become pregnant. It is a pretty good set of odds. You are doubly safe by using the condoms, but pills are meant to stand alone as a form of protection against pregnancy, so if you occasionally do it without condoms, or even do it all the time without them, you are still safe.

Hope that helps,

Drea Jean
