Birth Control/Birth Control after effects

Question
I have been on ortho tricyclen for about 10 yrs. Two months ago, I switched to generic ortho.  Approximately 2 weeks ago I started having severe migraines, I've never had them before.  I asked my ob-gyn if switching could be the cause and she said, no! I have been on 6 migraine meds since and nothing worked.  So, 2 days ago I stopped taking the pill to see if that made a difference, the migraine has subsided. Today I started bleeding, very heavily. Is this normal, or should I call my doctor?  Please help
Thanks,
Tracy

Answer
It certainly could be a normal response to getting off the pill.  If it doesn't stop or diminish to a more normal rate and you are concerned or getting weak, you should call your doctor.  But I'd say if your headaches are also reduced that it's a good thing to get off the pill.  Strokes are a possibility for pill takers.

Your period is a natural normal function of your body. Protect your fertility. Birth control pills are bad medicine for something that is delicate and easily destroyed. Now is a good time to quit using the pill.
