Birth Control/Birth control concerns

Question
I recently switched from the Ortho Evra patch to a pill (with Ferrous Furmarate tablets). I'm concerned about my period. It's been abnormal this month: very dark in color (a dark brown, not red), very light (almost spotting), and very painful (I'm normally cramp free). Are these normal symptoms when switching birth controls? Are the iron tablets the cause of the dark coloring? Or could it be something more serious that I need to talk to my doctor about?

Thanks,
Deanna

Answer
Hello,
I was just following up to see if you did contact your doctor. I was interested to see what happened in your situation. My email address is DCHERYL51@yahoo.com
Thanks.

Hi Deanna,
I'm not a medical doctor so yes, I do advise you to check with your doctor. I am glad that you switched from the patch. That has many side effects and dangers. However, I personally don't recommend the pill either because of hormones and side effects. I have to say that I haven't heard of a birth control pill with Ferrous Fumarate tablets. I'm not sure what to say about the other symptoms. Like I said, I would urge you to get a doctor's opinion. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and let me know what happens.
Thanks.
