Question
I have been using the pill to help regulate my cycles, and I feel that it works. However, I would like to ask if there are any that are especially good at adding weight? I am naturally thin, despite eating many many times throughout the day (fast metabolism). I am currently on a generic brand of Ortho-Tricyclen,and I don't think I've experienced any weight gain. I may even have lost weight, and I really can't afford to lose any more weight. A few years ago I tried Depo Provera and I gained weight on it, but I stopped it after only one dosage because my body had adverse reactions to it. Is there a pill out there that would help me gain weight but has low side effects?

Answer
Hi Allie,

Weight gain is a common possible side effect of ANY pill out there. And many pill makers have done their best to make pills that don't cause weight gain, because that is not something most women like. So, I don't think there are any pill brands that are going to help you much, to gain weight.

Maybe you could discuss with your Dr. some nutrional supplements. He can do a check up, and may be able to suggest supplements, or a weight gaining diet for you. But I don't believe any birth control brand will help with this particular problem.

Good Luck and Thanks,
