Birth Control/Break through bleeding on the pill

Question
I started taking natural progesterone in Jan 06' in an effort to control my cystic/hormonal acne. It caused me to have eratic periods so I've switched to Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I'm in the 2nd month. 1st month I had break through bleeding (not spotting but bleeding) in the 3rd week for 8 days. I didn't take a break for what would have been my period but just started a new pack. I then started having break through bleeding in the 2nd week. I'm in the 3rd week and still bleeding. Should I stop taking the pill or should I push through the 3 months in hopes that my body will figure this out. I desperatley need help with my acne and this is my last resort. Help! :)

Answer
Hi Jenny,

Since it doesn't sound like you are using it for protection against pregnancy, you can go ahead and try to get through the 3rd month, and hope it adjusts.

If it doesn't, go back to your Dr., and see if changing pills, taking a lower dose, or a diffrent brand will help both you breakthrough bleeding and the acne.

Thanks, and Good Luck,

Drea Jean
