Birth Control - Contraceptive implants

Expert: Brigid Kowalczyk - 6/5/2006

Question
Hiya, i was thinking about getting the Contraceptive implants to stop me getting pregnant but i heard that it damages you inside and might stop you getting pregnant in the near future onced its been taken out is this true?

What are the down sides to this is it safe?

Answer
All birth control chemical cause damage to your insides.  They all may prevent you from regaining your fertiliy after you stop.  Every woman is different and her response to the pill, the shot and the implants will vary but you have to be sure to read the package insert that comes with the drug and be sure you know what you are getting yourself into.  There are serious side effects beyond infertility, such as cancer, heart disease, blood clots, headaches, etc.  There are more downsides than upsides.
