Birth Control/Depo Shot

Question
Hello, My name is Natalie. I have been on the shot for about a year now. I am wanting to have a baby someday, it might not be right at this moment but maybe in a year or two. I have heard that if you have ever took the shot in the past it might make you unfertile. Should I get off the shot if I would like to have children in the near future?

Answer
Hi Natalie.
I'm not a medical doctor but I would not get the depo shot if I wanted to have children soon. I have been getting emails from women who want to get pregnant but are having trouble. I read an article in which it stated that it takes several months for the hormones to "subside" so that you can become pregnant. I would suggest a non-hormonal method such as condoms or Natural Family Planning or abstinence. Let me know if I can help you in any other way. Email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com
Thanks for your question.
