Birth Control/IUD Removal .. Trying To Get Pregnant

Question
QUESTION: Hi . Im going to try and describe my question the best I can . My husband && I decided to have my Mirena IUD removed after having it in for almost 1 yr try to get pregnant . I got it out on 4/21/07 and started bleeding lightly on 4/23/07 , the bleeding continued and got a little heavier until 4/25/07 . My husband and I had sex a few times the night I stopped bleeding (4/25/07)and he ejaculated inside me about 2 times that night , then again 2 times the following morning (4/26/07). I never started bleeing again since then and on 4/27/07 my husband and I had sex another 3 times , all of which did not envolve pulling out . I know it takes your body a while for the hormones from the IUD to leave the body , but we just want to know if our odds are getting pregnant our in our favor ? ( i have had a 28 day cycle since I first got my period , lasting about 5 days .) Thank You
ANSWER: You have a couple of things going on here. First, you had your  IUD removed and one of the actions of the IUD was to release some hormones into your body. So your body has to get used to not having the IUD and has to return to normal cycling without the artificial hormones. So give your body a little bit of time to get back to normal.

If you have read previous posts you know that about 80% of couples get pregnant in one year of trying to get pregnant. That means some couples get pregnant right away, and others have to keep trying for some months.

So don't panic if you aren't pregnant right away. Take a breath, relax, chill, have a drink. You may want to chart your fertility signs. This would give you a much better idea about when you can get pregnant, that is the days of the month when you are fertile, and will tell you pretty quick when you are pregnant. ---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Bob , I just wanted to ask a follow up since I forget to add some stuff before I sent : ] Thanks!
In between the days that the the hubby and I had sex , I didnt think of it & then all I thought to myself was EWWWWW, but I had a discharge that was clear and like stringy / stretchy kind of like egg whites! but I digress ... Ive looked up on it and it said that it could have been ovulation & I was wondering if that was true ? Which would have meant I was not bleeding from a period and that it was from my IUD Removal . I only bleed for 3 days which is not normal for me seeing as I ALWAYS bleed for 6 days , Ive never had a short period . Today 4/30/07 I am experiencing a kind a crampy feeling // hard to explain // and kind of feels like PMS cramps but right now I only feel it on my left side and my discharge now is white and like creamyish . Sorry if TMI I just have alot of questions. Also I forgot to add in that with both of my previous pregnancies happened with only only one act of sex bewteen me and hubby .. he mad a joke when we found out we were expecting baby # 2 . He called me Baby O ' Matic for getting prego so quickly : ] Also the 2nd time was from me forgetting my patch for a week. But thank you so much for answering all of our questions . It means alot!

Answer
The stringy stretchy egg white mucus is one of the best signs of ovulation. That web site will tell you about it. The white and creamy is not ovulation. There could be some bleeding from the IUD removal.

You and your husband are one of the couples where he looks at you and you get pregnant. I would assume that this will continue.

Be sure to try to get a teacher to work with you until you really understand your fertility.
