Question I am a 30 yr old that stopped taking the pill after 15 yrs 3 months ago. My cycle is exactly 33 days for the past 3 months (after pill) Is this normal? I want to start trying to get pregnent, but am worried as my doctor said there cold be problems because of the long cycle?
Answer Since you started taking the pill at 15, you don't really have any idea what your normal pattern is. 33 days isn't abnormal. You need to gather more information. You need more time to regain your normal pattern to find out if there is a problem or not. I wouldn't do anything until you have determined your normal pattern, figured out if you are ovulating and how long your leutal phase lasts. That is where the problem can lie. The time from ovulation until your period starts needs to be at least 11 days or longer (up to about 14) in order to stay pregnant. You could start taking vitamin B6, Folic Acid and eating right, getting enough rest, exercise and sleep so your body stays healthy and gets ready to be pregnant.
