Question
Hello people,

I started to take Mircette 3 weeks ago for the first time.  Today, I took my second sugar pill. Yesterday, I had unprotected sex. Last night I was spotting a little, so I'm hoping I'll be getting my period soon since I'm on my 25 day. What are the chances of me getting pregnant? Thanks for your input.

Answer
Hi Kelly,

More women become pregnant in the first month on the pill than anytime, because they are new to it, so they often forget.

But if you took it like you were supposed to, used a back up method the first week, or didnt have sex the first week, than you pregnancy risk is about 1%. That is the average pregnancy risk rate for all pill takers, when the pill is taken correctly. Don't worry, most periods will take a few days into the sugar pills before they start. Mine doesn't start until 2 days before my new pack starts, so you are probably fine.

Good Luck and Thanks,
