Birth Control/Missing pills

Question
Can missing two or more pills and then taking them when you remember throw off when you ovulate?  Here's my dilemma - I'm pregnant and got pregnant while on the pill.  But I know I missed a few pills and then took them when I remembered.  Since I do not remember my last LMP for the doctors, (sometimes it was very light and only lasted a day or so), they estimated my due date based on the ultrasound.  The due date they gave me does not coincide with when I should have gotten my last period, but it does coincide with about a week later  Could missing pills and taking them when remembered, throw off ovulation?  Hope this is enough info and you can help.

Answer
Hi Dana,

Yes it can. With pill use you are not supposed to ovulate at all, so when you miss more than one pill, it gives your body the opportunity to ovulate. There is no telling for sure when you ovulated.

Getting pregnant while on the pill often causes due date questions, for exactly the same reasons you descibe. But getting a due date by ultra sound is common, and it gives an accurate date. If you know how far along you are, count back that many weeks, and it is most likley within that week that you ovulated.

Good Luck to you and Thanks!
