About Dianna
Expertise
I can answer questions related to the proper use of condoms, the Depo-Provera shot, the pill, the patch, and IUDs. Please see my FAQ page before submitting a question. No question is too "personal" - that`s what I`m here for!

Experience
I have personally used the Depo shot, Ortho-Tricyclen, the Ortho Evra patch, and I currently have an Mirena IUD.

Birth Control - Orthotricyclen Lo

Expert: Dianna - 1/26/2004

Question
I was on Alesse for almost a year and decided to switch to Orthotricyclen Lo because my face seemed to break out a lot.  I never gained any weight with Alesse.  But....since I have been on Ortho (for only 3 weeks) I feel like I have gained 5 pounds already.  If it is only bloating, will it eventually stop after my body adjusts to the pill, or will it happen every month?  I think I would rather have "zits" than gain weight....

Answer
You said that you "feel" liek you've gained weight. You may or may not have. Also look at other things going on in your life. Everyone is different and I really can't tell you if this weight gain will stop or how you will react to the pill. You are the only one who will be able to see how your body reacts.
