Birth Control/Off The Pill 2 months ago, now missed period

Question
I was on Alesse 28 day for 5 months. I was taking it to help with severe menstrual cramping and was actually taking it 3 months straight, then taking the green pills to "allow" my body to have a reg period. I went off it after 5 months (Nov 06) due to the fact that I had breakthrough bleeding for about 4 weeks straight. Nothing very severe, but enough I would need to wear a light pad, or light tampon.
It is now Feb 1, I actually saw my OB/GYN yesterday for an unrelated issue. She asked the date of my last period and looked at me funny when I said Dec 20,2006. I DO have clips on my fallopian tubes, and she did the operation back in 2002. She did do a pelvic exam, said my uterus felt like there had been no change to it, nothing she could feel yet anyway, but told me not to worry about it yet, since I just came off the pill... but how many months does it take for your period to regulate again? I am a little concerned about this and I have an operation coming up in the next 4-8 weeks to remove scar tissue and adhesions. I have not been this late in a cycle except when I was pregnant. I am getting a first response home testing kit to try in the morning tomorrow. Any thoughts on if this is normal after being on the pill for that time period and if I should worry yet? lol
Thanks

Answer
Hi Simone,
Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical professional but in my opinion, it could take a few months to get back on normal cycle. Please refer to your OB/GYN about your health questions. It's also possible you are pregnant. You can always get a 2nd opinion but having a free pregnancy test done at a center if there is one near you. Check out http://www.optionline.org
I would like to hear from you about what happens. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com
Hope this helps.

P.s. Are you going to stay off the pill and if so, why?
Thanks.
