Birth Control/Switching packs to avoid missing...

Question
I came home from college for the weekend and realized i had forgotton my
pills. My mom happened to have gotten me 3 packs for the next three
months so i figured all packs have the same dosage so to avoid missing 2
days worth i would substitute the same two pills I should be taking, from a
new pack and use the two missed pills from my other pack next month. I
don't know what the difference would really be and I didn't miss any other
pills but now I'm on my sugar pills and I've had unprotected sex since, havn't
gotten my period and I'm nervous. I had some of my usual period symptoms
yesterday and today such as cramping but I havn't gotten my period. Did
those pills not work?

Answer
Pills are medicine. If the pills at home are exactly the same as the pills at school, and you took the correct ones, they will act the same.

Now, women do get pregnant even when taking the pill. If you miss your period by a week, take a home pregnancy test exactly according to instructions.
