Birth Control/Tri Sprintec

Question
I started taking Tri Sprintec in September. It was the first time I have ever taken
birth control. I was put on it to regulate my periods. I started having spotting
about 2 weeks ago and it is still going on. I am sexually active but I always make
my boyfriend wear condoms. I am on my week of sugar pills and I still haven't
started my period. I am just paranoid about these things. Insight?

Answer
Hi Julie,

I'm not a medical doctor so I urge you to check with your physician. Birth control pills and condoms are not always 100% to prevent pregnancy. There is a chance that you could be pregnant. Also there is a chance that you could be under stress which might make you irregular. Why don't you try calling 1-800-395-HELP or go to http://www.optionline.org
Ask them when you could get a free pregnancy test.
Hope this helps.
