Question
I just had a baby in December of 06'...I have started the depo shot in February. My first menstrual cycle was pretty normal but this one was very weird...I spotted for like 2-3 days not just reddish blood but brown...I am still on it I think for about 1wk and maybe like 2 days...I have been bleeding alot of brown mostly...my cycle stops and starts back. It has stopped and started back like 4-5 times...sometimes it will quit for a whole day and start back. I have never had this much brown blood. I used to only have brown when my cycle was done...what could this be?

Answer
According to the American Health System Pharmacist Drug Information 2005 Manual, about 60% of women have some alteration in menstrual bleeding on the shot. This could continue for a year or more if you continue the shot. Depending on your age and how many more pregnancies you want, you may want to discuss your concerns with your healthcare provider.
