my girlfriend just started birth control pills today and i did some research on the side-effects. I read alot about how birth control pills reduice libido and sexual enjoyment. I talked with her and we hope it doesn't affect her libido. So my question is how likely is it to reduce her libido? as of now we have a healthy sex life atleast 3 times a week.

Thanks for your question. Although I'm not a medical doctor, I have had 19 years of experience with birth control and pregnancy situations. I'm really glad that you did the research on birth control pills but I would not advise the use of them. I can't tell you which side effects she might experience and what the possibility is. I only recommend non-hormonal methods of birth control such as condoms, Natural Family Planning and abstinence. I don't know if these methods are an option for you. The protection from pregnancy is not as favorable as hormonal methods but then you have to consider her health.
