Birth Control - Going off birth control/ weight loss
Expert: Marina - 4/23/2004
Question Hi! I am 17 years old and have been on birth control for about 4 months to regulate my periods after not getting one for a year. I have a condition (raynaud's syndrome) which might be occurring more often b/c of the pills and so my doctor has decided to take me off the pill. While taking the pill, i gained about 7 lbs and was just wondering if now that i will be off of them, will lose the weight or if it will it stay? The weight i put on won't go which is annoying because i am a very healthy eater and very active, so i just wanted to know if i will lose what i gained- thank you SO much!
Answer Hi,
You will probably lose your gained weight, which may be caused by accumulated water in the body due to the hormones in the pill. You may not lose all at once, but gradually. Keep eating healthy food and stay active and you will loose excess weight. :-)
