Question
I HAVE RECENTLY STOPPED TAKING MY BIRTHCONTROL (YAZ) AND I HAVE BEEN GETTING TERRIBLE THROBBING MIGRAINES STARTING AT THE BACK OF MY HEAD.  I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED MIGRAINES IN MY LIFE UNTIL NOW.  COULD STOPPING THE PILL CAUSE MIGRAINES?

Answer
Hi Josie,

Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical professional so I advise you to see your doctor about this. But yes, I think that this could be a side effect of the hormones in the birth control pills. You can experience any side effects from going on or off birth control pills or any hormonal method of birth control. If you don't want hormonal birth control you can use condoms, Natural Family Planning but check on percentage of failure. Also, of course, if abstinence is a possibility, this would not have any side effects and a 100% safety from pregnancy.
Hope this is helpful.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
