Birth Control - depo injection

Expert: Dianna - 3/17/2004

Question
I have had 2 depo injections and i decided to come off as my partner and i decided we want another child. the thing i am concerned about is that since coming off the injection i have not had a period or any sign of one. yet when i was having the injection i would have a small bleed at the time i should be having a period and would get severe stomach cramps. i would just like to ask if it is still normal for my period to stop or could i now be infertile?

Answer
You would not become infertile from the Depe shot. Chances are that your period is just trying to get back on a normal schedule. Wait another two months and then visit your doctor if you still haven't had a period. You can still get pregnant even if you aren't having a period.
