Birth Control/early menopause? Pregnant? Crazy?

Question
Hi Ms. Cheryl;

It's so nice that there are professionals like yourself who are so generous with their advice and their compassion. Thank you.

I am 33, 2 kids (13 & 6). About 5 months ago - my hair started falling out (a lot)!I started having regular hot flashes at night. (Not on any med, btw) Went to the Drs. Drew blood. Heard nothing. Hair still fell out. 2 1/2 months ago, went back (this time, to try Depo), Dr said he had results to check with me - somehow I never got a call. My D-HEAS levels were elevated (slightly). He seemed unconcerned. Got my 1st Depo shot.

Bled without pause for 2 full months. Not menstrual - but bleeding, scant, like from a cut. Bleeding stopped over two weeks ago. Now I can't stop thinking that I feel totally pregnant. Breasts are throbbing and full of blue veins, stomach is bloated, appetite changes, real bad mood shifts. (Always have conceived easily)

Maybe Depo was bad for whatever's wrong with me? I can't decide whether I feel pregnant - or that I'm going through early menopause! Feel like no ones listening, and my hair is still falling out.....!

Answer
Hi Lesley,
Thanks for your question. I always mention that I am not a medical professional so I urge you to check with your personal physician. I am concerned about your bleeding for 2 months. I can't imagine that a doctor would not be doing something about this. I don't personally recommend depo provera or any kind of hormonal birth control. In my opinion, this is not healthy for a woman's body.
I can't diagnose your condition over the internet. You could try a pregnancy testing center to see if you're pregnant. Perhaps they can recommend a good doctor. Please contact me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and let me know how it is going. Check out this website to find the testing center.
