Breakthrough bleeding is bound to happen when your body is adjusting to taking a hormone continuously. It will take some time before you actually start seeing "no period" and you may experience light spotting or light breakthrough bleeding at times.
Good luck, and congrats on the wedding.
P.S. I work at Planned Parenthood.

Actually, skipping on tricyclin (or other birth control where the hormone levels are different each week)is more difficult than regular pills but still possible. You period starts a few days after your hormone levels drop (which is usually when you stop taking the pill, but in this case if you start taking a new months pills of trycyclin, the hormone levels will still be decreasing as you have a lower 1 week dosage than that of the following weeks. So by taking the new months pills right after you will simply extend the length of your period. To fix this problem there are 2 solutions. If you want to postpone it short term, simply open a new pack and take only the week 3 higher dose pills, postponing your period a week. For a longer term fix, you have to take 2 packs simultaneously. (2 weeks of week 1 pills, followed by 2 weeks of week 2 pills, followed by 2 weeks of week 3 pills, and then your period week. This way you wont have the drop in hormone levels which cause your period.
