I take Aviane myself and I gaurantee you it will not help with mood swings. It is a low hormone birth control, but my moods have become so drastically worse during the year I've taken it that I'm thinking of switching off of it. I used to be sort of quiet and apathetic a bit toward things, but after I started taking it (literally, the first month) I started becoming increasingly feminine (in an out-of-my-character sort of way) and would get offended at the littlest things, and cry about it. It won't help your mood swings, it will probably make them much worse. Adding hormones to your body isn't a good idea. I took kava kava root for my mood swings for a long time and that worked. I'd try something that doesn't involve hormones.

Your period is a natural normal function of your body. Protect your fertility. Birth control pills are bad medicine for something that is delicate and easily destroyed. Now is a good time to quit using the pill.
