Birth Control/Too little time for birth control to take effect?

Question
I am getting married in October and have been trying for several weeks to call the doctor and set up my first GYNO appointment.  They have just called me back and the earliest they can squeeze me in is 10 days before my wedding.  I still need to get on birth control and from the research I have done 10 days isn't enough time for birth control, unless you get the shot version, to come into effect.  What would you suggest?  Will I just have to rely on condoms for the first couple of weeks until the birth control sets in?
Thanks!

Answer
Hello again Amanda,

Did you get the below email? I was just thinking about you and wondering what happened. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com

Hi Amanda,

Please do not get the shot! There are so many side effects to depo provera. In fact, I don't recommend any kind of hormonal birth control. I recommend Natural Family Planning. I would advise you to go to Ramona under Natural family planning here on Allexperts.com and ask her to give you some information.Or you can do a search on the internet for Natural Family Planning. Yes, I would suggest using condoms at first but they are not that reliable. Why don't you want any children? Just wondering. Lots of young couples are having babies pretty soon after getting married-there is nothing wrong with that. Let me know if I can help you in any way. My email address is DCHERYL51@yahoo.com

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
