Birth Control/missed BC pills

Question
Hi, I am 20 years old and I went on birth control just recently. I am not sexually active, I take it because it makes my extremely bad cramps a lot better, and keeps me regular.

I missed 4 days of my white pills because I couldn't find them, and then I found them and just skipped the four pills and continued like I didn't miss any. I started my period right away, and I have been on my period for a week now. I just started into the pink pills, and now I am getting really heavy. Will I go back to normal when I start my new cycle of pills? Is what I did dangerous? Does it happen a lot?

Thank you so much for taking the time to hear my question.

Answer
Those little pills have strong medicine in them.  And when you don't take them, the effect they were having is lost and your body gets confused.  The prescription says to take it every day and if you don't...well, now you know one of the problems you can have.  I don't know if it will go back to "normal" but that would be the assumption and expectation.

Natural Family Planning is a risk-free, safe, and economical alternative to chemical and barrier contraceptives. NFP is easy to understand, aids in fertility awareness for spacing children as well as increasing communication and assisting couples to concieve. I do not answer questions about other forms of birth control.

I have personal experience with all birth control methods, I practiced NFP throughout my child-bearing years and I am a paralegal with great research skills. I am totally convinced this is a viable alternative and I can back-up my statements with research.
