Birth Control/Where's my period?

Question
Okay I just started taking Yaz a month ago.  I started it on the day of my period.  I had sex a day before the 1 week mark but I was reassured if I took the pill on the day that my period start I'd be protected. I've had breakthrough bleeding almost since the beginning. I had light bleeding enough that I had to wear a tampon for the whole day. Right now I'm on the 2nd placebo pill and so far my period hasn't come! Today the breakthrough bleeding is practically non-existent, I figured its because I'm on placebo. Can I be pregnant?

I take levoxyl (thyroid meds) but I was reassured that this will not have any affect on the birth control pills. I don't know whats happening? I figured that my body is adjusting and all that. I was hoping that the reason I'm not having my period is because I've been bleeding all month. Plz help!

Answer
Hi Irrish,
Thanks for your question. I've been getting a lot of questions lately about bleeding. I'm not a medical doctor so I suggest that you check with your physician or whoever prescribed the pills. The bleeding concerns me and I think you should have a checkup. Is it possible that you could switch methods or use abstinence? Please email me back at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and I'll try to advise you more. Other meds can effect the hormones in the pills. If you want to take a pregnancy test, go to this website http://www.optionline.org and find a free testing center in your area.
