This question is related to the topic, but maybe a little bit too specific, but hopefully you can help me out.
I own stock at Scottrade. I have requested a few physical stock certificates from them. Each time it has cost me $55 to get the actual stock certficate. I know oneshare.com, or frameashare.com offer stock certicates, for the going stock price+ $35 transfer fee+ framing if you elected it+ shipping. Now my question is there a way to recieve physical stock certificates for less then I guess the $35 transfer fee?
Thanks,
Michael
Answer I was not aware of the certificate transfer fees. I worked for a full service broker dealer and there were no transfer out fees. Question is why you wish to do this? With SPIC insurance covering your accounts up to 500k, why would you want to hold the physical certificates? Most of the question relating to splits and lost certificates are resolved by keeping the certificates in the accounts of a broker dealer. I would recommend that you hold the certificates in the broker dealer of your choice, for the insurance the the lack of loosing the certificates. Better for you.
