Question
I am trying to find out the following :
What is a put?

What is a call ?

How does one begin to invest in such things ?

What brokerage or ? would you recommend ?

Thanks in advance for your time and patience with me on this.

Answer
A put is used to make money on stocks going lower.

A call is to make money if stock go up.

I would recommend to not go down this path of options. They do not make money for people. Do not try this with any broker since the very basics are impossible to make money. This is my humble opinion and hope this saves you grief from this form of investment.
