Blue Chip Stocks - Spinn-off

Expert: Dr. Joseph de Beauchamp - 6/8/2004

Question
Recently, Abbott Labs spun-off Hospira stock.

I have tried in vain to find out how much money I should reduce my original cost of Abbott and what value to  place on the Hospira shares the day the spin-off took place.

I have tried to get info from  Abbott and Hospira, no success so far. Please help.

Answer
Placing the stock certificates in a broker dealer account really helps to keep track of this information. I suggest that you take this into a broker dealer and have them work on this. Placing them into an account also provides to have them work on all name changes and stock splits for free. They do this work for no charge.
