Yesterday I had 4 baby bluebirds. Today there is messy grass on top of the
bluebird nest and 3 of the babies are gone. I found one baby bird underneath
the nest. There is no sign of the parents today. What do I do? Can I
possibly bring the baby inside and feed it? None of my other houses have
babies, only eggs, so I can't move the baby to another nest. I hate to let him
die. Thank you!
Answer Unfortunately that sounds like a killer house sparrow attack. Do you trap and /or shoot them? They are alien unprotected birds (not a sparrow, but a weaver finch, and our native birds have no protection against its heavy finch bill and aggressive ways.)Please do not try to feed the baby. It is cruel as it will bond to you and can never go back to the wild. Let nature take its course.
