Bluebirds/Blue Bird Trail Question

Question
How old can the Blue Bird Nestings, be when you make your last inspection of the nest box?

Answer
We tell inexperienced people not to open boxes after the young are 13 days old (they fledge 18 to 19 days after hatching)as there is a slight chance that they will try to leave the box too soon. However a lot can happen in those last few days (ants, snake attacks, etc.) and I always check very carefully after that. Just block the opening with a rag and do not open the box if the adults are making a fuss.
