Question
how did R&B music get started?
who created it?

Answer
It came out of jump blues in the late '40s. R&B kept the tempo and the drive of jump blues, but its instrumentation was sparer and the emphasis was on the song, not improvisation. It was blues chord changes played with an insistent backbeat, People like Big Joe Turner, Fats Domino, Professor Longhair, Ruth Brown  and many fathers & mothers of Jump Blues, Boogie Blues were the originators of this style. R&B went through many phases b4 it became the R&B music as we know it today ... at some period people like B.B. King , Buddy Guy & JR Wells were called R&B as well.
