Question
I was wondering Paul, if you knew of any place around the South Western Pennsylvania, (Pittsburgh surrounding area) where amature chess tournaments are held or there are chess clubs. If you could, do you know if there are any in the "Waynesburg" area of Green County? Thank you very much.

best regards,
Twis

Answer
Hi Twis,

Give this link a try to see what club is close to you?

http://www.chessmaniac.com/Clubs/Pennsylvania.htm

Also, since you are in the south-west end of your state you might want to try the next state over too?

As an aside, George Koltanowski, who played chess blindfolded came from Waynesburg, PA.  He was a prominent player on the international chess circuit back in the 20's and 30's.

Hope the link above helps?

Paul

I can answer questions based on wargaming. The history of the hobby, the giants (SPI, Avalon Hill, GDW, TSR, etc) and the little guys (Flying Buffalo, OSG, Vanguard, Mayfair, etc). I also know current worth of games based on condition, collectable value.
