Hello.  
I am new to wargaming and was wondering who makes the best strategy game.  In particular I am looking at world in flames,  third reich,  totaler krieg,  decision games war in europe and E.T.O.  Who is #1?  How are the others?  Any good Napoleonic and U.S civel war games of tactical scale you think are good would also be much appreciated.

Hi Kirk,

Best game is a matter of opinion.  Third Reich, by Avalon Hill game company is excellent, #1 in my book.  

Try eBay.com and search for the latest auctions as most of the games you mentioned are out of print.  Third Reich has a new edition out by the original designer, John Padros, by Avalanche Press.  See if you can find a mint copy on eBay of Avalon Hill's Third Reich, 3rd/4th edition.  

E.T.O is very good also, SPI/TSR released 2 versions: get the 2nd edition.  Again, try eBay.

Victory Games produced a strategic game called Civil War.  This is a great American Civil War game, also can be found on eBay.  

www.NapoleonGames.com makes very good Napoleonic board games.  The Emperors War is a great strategic game of Napoleonic Grand strategy.  Try their website.
