Question
Hello,
I have a 90 HP Force Engine which runs fine when I can start it> How ever I had a rebuilt starter/new battery cables replaced and it cranked up fine. Before it had the slow drag. It started like a champ. However I did not get to start it for 2 months well It had the slow drag again, and what I did was 24 AMPed it with 2 batteries and it started. However I think the starter is bad or the power is getting lost somewhere? need help.  Thanks.

Answer
If the starter was not rebuilt properly you can run into a host of troubles down the line.
Make sure the cables are the proper gage for the length. Recommended sizes are in most service manuals.
Make sure the connections are clean and tight, particularly the ground cable.
If the starter still drags either test it with an amp meter or replace it with a new starter.
many shops throw a set of brushes in a starter and call it rebuilt. That doesn't cut it. If it is only 2 months old take it back and see what the warranty is.
