Boat Repair/Crusader

Question
I replaced the starter on my crusader 350 recently and it worked great. Did not crank it for awhile and now with a strong battery the engine barley turns over. The battery terminal heats up and begins to smoke.

Answer
If the battery terminal is getting that hot one of a few things is happening. The connection on the battery or at the block, if the ground lead, is corroded, rusty, loose. If it is heating up on the positive side it is the same as for the negative with the addition of a bad starter.
Remove the battery cables and clean them throughly from the battery and the engine.
