Question
I have 3 wires white, black and gray, which wire goes on top of sending unit, and which other 2 get grounded.
the boat is 1995 procraft 170, with a 115 marine on it.

thanks

Answer
Adam those wires are the wrong color code for a fuel sender. You should have a black, red and pink. The pink being the sender wire.
Look at the back of the gauge to see what is connected there. If there are any spliced you will need to find it and see what the color codes are. The gauge will have markings for positive, ground and S for sender.
