Question
I have a 1979 55 johnson 55etl79l that started to make a buzzing noise from the throttle control. everything else seems to work ok but the noise is a concern it. it is like a tem alarm but the motor wasnt getting hot

Answer
Brad you need to have the hot horn, and wiring checked out. If the horn does not sound with the key on and the motor off the wiring is OK. If it sounds when the motor is running either the sender is bad or the motor is overheating. Having water, even cool water from the tell-tale does not guarantee the engine isn't overheating. You could have a stuck thermostat.
If you run the motor with a stuck thermostat you can destroy the motor in short order.
