Question
i just bought a 2001 6hp 4stroke mercury outboard.
i have change the fuel pumps and replace the spark plug and still the motor will not start.
i have been reading alot of suggestion online to see what mightbe my problem.
i notice that my oil is white and milky and do not know if i change the oil will solve my problem.
please help!!!! before fishing season start.

Answer
If the oil is milky you will need to take the engine to a good shop that is competent with that motor.
You have a major problem with a water leak which can also be why you can't start the motor. It could be something as simple as a blown head gasket.
No matter what it is you will need to find out what it is before it does it again.
I'm sorry but it really isn't something I would recommend for a DIY'er to try and fix.
