Question
I need to replace the P/T motor since it has quit running. There is Power to the motor but it has quit. I lowered the big motor to down position by backing off manual release screw so as to remove from boat since one of the back screws on the P/T motor is not reachable unless you do. Now I need to raise the motor since it is blocking 2 front screws on the P/T motor. Loosening the manual release screw again, I find that it is impossible to raise the motor manually. It seems to be locked in down position. How or what do I have to do to raise it? Seems to me when you back the manual release screw out you should be able to raise the big moter manually.  Please help if you can.  Thank you very much.

Answer
yes you have to pull the moto, to get to the last bolt...with the manual release loosened you should be able to but you should be able to get to them with the motor off ...never tryed to raise on manualy tho...may have to pull the transom assembly off on one side...
